That damn Schneizel! Can you believe his savage plan? Targeting the destruction of Japan is one thing, but how dare he target Toronto with a FLEIA? And on the Macross side - when do you suppose Alto actually grew a pair? Let’s discuss shall we?
Story
Code Geass R2
Did anyone else get the feeling they were watching a Real Time Strategy game while watching the 2nd half of Code Geass R2 23? Yeah - we thought we weren’t the only ones?
We think more than anything this episode will be remembered for showing just how much a monster Schneizel is. And we’re not talking about how he plans to target our home town with FLEIA. Say what you want about Charles, but the guy really did love his family. But Schneizel killed his sister Cornelia like she was nothing. We guess all Schneizel needs in his world is his Man-Slave Kanon.
Schneizel & Kanon sitting in a tree…..
Speaking off Cornelia, how could the writers just off her in a cheap way like being shot by auto guns in the back? After surviving the final battle of R1, she deserved to go out better than that.
Oh is it just us, or did anyone else think that it was really, really weird to see Kallen and Lelouch on opposite sides? We’re not sure what’s more trippy, seeing the Gurren going after Lelouch or seeing Nunnally fire the FLEIA at her brother? Both we’re too surreal, and was probably a taste of things to come in the final few episodes. So expect to see more of the surreal.
Overall we thought CG R2 23 was a good episode and did a good job of setting up the first stage of the final battle. Good, but not great.
What’s Nunnally doing with Sailor Moon’s wand?
Macross Frontier
Doesn’t it seem like yesterday that Alto was a princess with burning passion and little common sense? Well now he’s a princess who has apparently grown a pair. Even though he’s still playing for the wrong side, we finally see signs of our little princess manning up.
And speaking of character growth - how about Sheryl. If she had this kind of personality from the beginning, we never would have started our “Just Say No to Nome” campaign. We really like the character growth Sheryl has demonstrated recently. Too bad we can’t say the same for Ranka.
Poor Sheryl - she lost cause she wasn’t Loli
Which brings us to this very important point, why the hell does Alto love Ranka more Sheryl? Apparently even though he’s with Sheryl he feels for Ranka. And this after he’s decided to kill Ranka if necessary. We don’t get it, but it’s keeping our interest - which we guess is what it’s supposed to do.
So the episode also revealed to us the nature of Ranka’s connection to the Vajra. It seems like she has the same bacteria that Vajra posses in her body. Interesting, very interesting - so Sheryl is not the only one that is diseased. So we can conclude that grace implanted her mother with them in order to have Ranka as a mechanism for controlling Varja?
But our favorite part of this episode was the scene where Ranka then Brera realize their brother and sister. And just as Brera finds out, Grace takes control of his conscience. That Grace is one cruel mother f*&^@!.
United in purple and emo-ness
So we’re giving the victory to Macross for the big reveals and Alto finally becoming a man.
Winner: Macross Frontier EP 23
aww…he’s so cute…what happened?
Action
Both shows had basically the same amount of action, the difference is that EP 23 of Macross was the lead up to the final battle and Code Geass R2 23 started the final battle. So we’re giving this one to Geass. Granted the action didn’t look as good as Frontier, but it was more dramatic and a lot more people died - always a plus.
Winner: Code Geass R2 EP 23
Fangasmic
This week we found ourselves liking Frontier a little more than Geass. Why? Really it was because of 3 factors. First, Alto realizing that even as he is with Sheryl, he love’s Ranka more. Guess Michael wasn’t the only one with a Loli - complex. 2nd The Character growth shown by both Sheryl and Alto was significant. So much so for Alto that we actually are starting to like his character…. A little. Yeah - we’re just as shocked as you are. 3rd - we finally learned of the connection between Ranka

RTS games didn’t come to my mind, but LOGH did. Make of that what you will.
Also…I’m not sure if Cornelia is actually dead, that’s just what I’m currently assuming.

Damn it I liked Cornelia…She was at least to me…the most unirritating character in Geass. She always stayed true to character and never pulled a OMFG WTF DID YOU DO THAT FOR move…She was nice.
