Okay we’ve watched the CLANNAD After Story Promo video about 4 times now since ANN posted it this morning. And we are quite disturbed by what we saw. Here check the video and tell us if you notice something.
This is the kinda ending we want to see
Doesn’t the video make it seem that Nagisa dies in CLANNAD After Story? Especially the one scene on the train where we see what looks like Tomoya on the train with their son? Notice no Nagisa? (In the visual novel - the bad ending has Nagisa dying during their sons birth).
If Nagisa does end up dying in CLANNAD season II then it’s a failure on the part of KyotoAni for two reasons. One being that if Nagisa dies then Asuna will inconsolable for a week. Asuna loves Nagisa and would be an emotional wreck if she had to sit through a traumatic death. The second reason being that we’ve already seen this played out in the CLANNAD movie. Why rehash that? If you have already animated the ‘bad’ ending wouldn’t it make sense to now animate the ‘good’ ending? Are we missing something here?
Besides that the other thing you can decipher from the trailer is that the secondary characters - Kyou, Ryou, Tomoyo and yes even Sunohara will all have much smaller roles in After Story. This only makes sense. Now that Tomoya and Nagisa are together, there is no way the other girls - who all wanted to get with Tomoyoa - would get the same screen time or story lines devoted to them.
We are still really looking forward to October and the start of CLANNAD Season II, we’re just praying to the anime goddess that we see the ‘good’ ending played out.

Ah…I know what happens to Nagisa, but I really don’t want to be the person spreading spoilers. All I have to say is, things aren’t what they seem and that you have to watch it through all the way to the end.
I’m expecting good things from the After Story. More Nagisa~!

Whoa, calm down! First, it’s not tomoya and his son on the train, it’s younger tomoya and his dad in a flashback! Second, yes, they do have a smaller role, but seeing as kyoani combined all the paths they’ll probably write in more apperances. Third, yes, she dies. But, Have you ever watched mai-hime?
*slight spoiler* She’s as dead as natsuki or takumi, so don’t worry about it too much.

Ugh when i watched the movie i was like okay this is good…then the ending of the movie came and im like =O…………………….
incredibly long pause… what in god’s name happened!? why!? why is there never an anime that’s fairytale these days? it would be nice to have a fairytale ending instead of the worst type of ending.
H20 foot prints in the sand i was like all hyped up and by the end i had forgotten the fact that these two had given it the stupidest ending ever ranking and i was like…ugh -_-
Anime needs a bigger mixture of clannad likes where its actually happy!.
Clannad was such a good anime too…..

To FuyaMaiden…I hope you’re right ’cause when I also watched the movie…I cannot believe what I just saw in the ending…
Let’s just hope that the creators can tweak it in difference to the ending of the movie.

Since Tomoya and Nagisa both have a vague recollection of the dream world, I’d say that Clannad TV should be the equivalent of the True Ending for Nagisa’s arc, while the Clannad movie would be the equivalent of the initial Nagisa arc ending.
